After several weeks of practically being a hermit, suddenly I had the opportunity to go out Friday night. Actually, I was offered two choices, both of which I really wanted to participate in. One was a ladies night at the church I've been attending. SPC Nbs and I started going there just before he left, but there haven't been many chances to really get to know some of the other ladies there yet. I thought it would be pretty fun, playing board games and stuff, all in all a pretty calm but ...

Okay, first a little background since I haven't posted much at all in the last year. This time last year I was finishing my first year working as a Pre-K teacher's aide in Texas, going to school, one class away from finally finishing my Bachelor's degree in Music, working part time delivering pizza, leading children's choir & teaching a 5th & 6th gr Sunday School class and active in the praise team at church, continuing to study voice, hanging out with friends, watching movies, and lovin...

I am officially 30 now. Have been since the week before last, and as the title states, it was on Friday the 13th. It's kind of funny, but even though I know there had to have been another one in between somewhere, the last birthday I remember falling on a Friday was when I turned 13. I tried to have friends over and camp out in a tent in the backyard, but they all chickened out. Too superstitious. Of course, it was also New York in April, and it was still pretty chilly, so I guess there...

On wings of steel he flew from me, My heart, my breath he stole And though I ache so bitterly, I know twas not his goal "Spartan, come back with your shield or on it", He asked me to say ere he left I felt silly and strange in the midst of the crowd, but stifling tears and laughter, met his request A fierce hug, a deep kiss I love you... Then he turned, And I watched him walk away He went because he loves me I know how much he cares He wanted to provide a home for us, And...

The faint sound of the can-can floated through the house. I rushed to the kitchen, hoping I could answer before the tune ended. I reached, fumbling for the phone, and my stomach clenched with fear when I saw your name. At 5 our paths crossed for the first time, and our lives entwined forever. Although we were born three days and many miles apart, sharing no blood, you were my sister. Closer than I could ever explain from the beginning. At 10 you saved me from the current that trappe...

10 years ago today, I walked down the aisle of Berry Chapel at Ouachita Baptist University to join my life with that of my beloved. I wore the gown my Mother wore 27 years earlier (made for her by her father-in-law), and my bridesmaids wore peach. My Father and Grandfather conducted the ceremony, my Mom played the piano, and Ben and I sang to each other. Only a few dozen people were present, as we'd only given 6 weeks notice of our impending nuptials, but that wasn't what counted. Over...

It seems like every time I blog, I'm commenting on how it's been too long since I wrote last. Same thing when I email people, too. I hereby resolve, this 1st day of February (I know I'm a month late), to blog more. Especially since I don't have the excuse of SPC Nbs being on the computer constantly for the next few months. Any topic ideas?

Well, it's been another month since I posted, and alot has happened. I still haven't been able to make myself write about this past summer, but something happened about a week ago, and I realized I had to. You see, my grandfather died this summer. I got a phone call from my Mom towards the end of May, telling me Papaw (my dad's dad) was in the hospital again. He was on a repirator because his lungs had collapsed, and he had kidney failure. She said if I wanted to see him again be...

You know that feeling of emptiness that you get sometimes? Staring up into a clear night sky, black velvet sprinkled with diamond dust.... Watching the reflection of the moon dancing, shimmering on the water Feel the chill of a cold breeze across the nape of your neck. Wishing someone would enfold you in their arms, surround you Feel warm breath stir your hair as they whisper, "it'll be okay" Wanting the release of tears, comfort against fears Someone beside you, but a chasm ...

I love music. Music has been an integral part of me my entire life. All kinds of music. Rock, heavy metal, jazz, classical, christian, country, even some rap (though not much), and lots of novelty music. I like it all. I enjoy it all. Some of it is because it is honestly good music, and some of it is because of the memories. I've heard several times over the years about the connection that chocolate plays with memories. Experts say that there is a chemical in chocolate that causes...

Well, hello to anyone out there that remembers me! I know it's been a while since I posted. I haven't forgotten about all of you, but sometimes life gets in the way. I'm hoping to blog about the past six months or so, and keep going. I know that my hubby updated everyone on his health way back. From this side of the hospital gown it was pretty scary. I have never seen him like that before. So, what has happened since Easter? I played in the pit orchestra for an Opera at school, fini...
